Home Quirks and Unique Features
Moving into a new home, whether it’s a purchase or a rental, is an exciting experience. It can, however, take some getting used to if the home is set up in a different way than you’re used to. Every home has its quirks and features are specific to them; becoming accustomed to what they are and how to manage them can be an added source of frustration for renters and new home owners. To make the transition easier, we suggest putting together a cheat sheet on your home’s quirks and necessary to-do’s. This list is very helpful for us as your property manager for when we look after your house during any vacancies. Here are some things to include:
- Provide users manuals for all appliances and electronics
- How to turn off the water main and where it’s located
- Where sprinkler switches are located and how to use the timer
- Access to the attic or basement
- Location of the circuit breaker; make sure the circuit breakers are labeled
- Are you light switches complicated? Consider making a diagram or labeling them in some way
- For homes where the weather gets cold, provide information about how to prep the home for the winter
- Include the trash and recycling pick up schedules
If you’ve ever stayed at someone else’s home, you probably know it can be difficult to do some things that come naturally to you in your own home. It’s important that your renters are able to easily and effectively care for your home. Providing information on your home helps the renters and allows Caron B Realty to provide you with 6-star property management service.
